About Us

Founded in 2020 during lockdown, Kariton started with just a truck and a dream, to bring bold Filipino/Asian inspired flavours to Melbourne, Australia. Our chefs, driven by passion and community, have worked tirelessly to create gelato like no one has ever tasted, flavours you didn’t know you needed but can’t live without.

Our mission goes beyond gelato. We craft flavours that evoke nostalgia, cultural connection, and offer happy moments in every bite. Every batch is made from scratch, serving as a canvas for bold, unexpected combinations.

Our artisanal gelato are handcrafted in small batches.

Every flavour has been inspired by a classic Filipino dessert, cocktail or produce, with each getting our own creative touch. Each item is made from scratch, from the bases to the garnishes, using the best quality ingredients.

Are we traditional? By no means!

Kariton sees gelato as more than just a frozen delight, but rather a canvas for flavoursome, textural and nostalgic creations that induce happy moments.

The Kariton Way Sustainability

At Kariton, every scoop tells a story, one of community, culture, and a commitment to doing better for the planet. We know the food industry has its challenges, and while we’re not perfect, we’re always looking for ways to improve.

Because we believe in quality over quantity, we focus on sourcing the best ingredients, minimising waste, and making mindful choices that create a positive impact. Just like our flavours layered, bold, and full of character, our sustainability journey is always evolving, inspired by the people and places that make Kariton special.

Long story short, we love gelato.

And we want to keep making it in a way that’s better for you, for our communities, and for the planet.

  • We’re all about sourcing quality ingredients, but for us, it’s more than just great produce. It’s about sharing our culture by introducing unique flavours and ingredients to Australia. That’s why we work closely with our suppliers, building strong partnerships that allow us to be mindful of portions, reduce waste, and lower our overall emissions.

We believe that good dairy starts with good practices, which is why we partner with St. David Dairy a local supplier that takes ethical farming seriously, right down to reducing their ‘food miles.’ They care about where their milk comes from, and that’s exactly why we love them (and why it tastes so damn good in our gelato).

At the same time, we’re always pushing the boundaries with innovative vegan flavours. Whether you’re dairy-conscious or just curious, we want to show that sweet treats can be just as indulgent with less dairy without compromising on flavour.

  • Ever wonder where broken cones go? We hate to break it to you (pun intended), but in many places, they end up as food waste.

But at Kariton, we’re all about finding delicious solutions. Instead of tossing them, we repurpose our broken cones into our popular Biscoff Vegan Sundaes, so every time you dig into one, you’re helping save a cone. Pretty sweet, right?

  • Each of our stores has its own unique character, and we do our best to work with what’s already there rather than tearing everything down. Where possible, we repurpose existing structures, incorporate natural materials, and use LED lighting for efficiency.

We also prioritise second-hand and refurbished equipment, giving high-quality machinery a second life and reducing unnecessary waste. It’s all about making thoughtful choices, without compromising on the experience.
